ARCH ENEMY playing Faroe Islands and Maldives! Angela comments:

July 16th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

arch-banner.jpg

Metal masters ARCH ENEMY have been touring restlessly around the globe for their latest studio album “Rise Of The Tyrant”, their successive live-release ”Tyrants Of The Rising Sun – Live In Japan” as well as their “The Root Of All Evil” re-recordings album launched in 2009.  And the good news is: They show no sign of slowing down!

After a great touring run in North America together with Exodus early in 2010, ARCH ENEMY have already appeared on several high-profile festival events in Europe this year and are now about to hit slightly more “exotic” territories in the coming days, when they will one of the first ever international acts to bring the sound of Metal to the Faroe Islands (!) and the Maldives (!!!). Singer Angela Gossow checks in from the road as follows:

“This weekend we are playing two very remote and exotic places: Faroe Islands and the Maldives. Both places have not seen many international acts – In fact we are the first international metal band ever to play the Maldives. We are very curious about the fans and the atmosphere in both places!
The geographical contrast between these two destinations couldn’t be bigger. Faroe Islands (situated between Scotland and Iceland in the North Atlantic) are beautiful in their tristesse. Untamed and rough nature, grass covered rocky mountains.12 degrees Celsius. Cold. Rain. Thick fog and stormy winds. Landing at the airport felt more like a plane crash… The main stage suffered badly last night we hear. The bigger of the two stages stage died yesterday. They even lost one side of the P.A. into the sea. Yes, that’s into the sea.
This is their summer. Reminds me of a grey, windy autumn day in Sweden… A perfect place to write a metal album I’d say. The Maldives (a cluster of atolls in the Indian Ocean) will be hot, lush green, full of colourful flowers and scents and brimming with ‘holiday flair’. We will soak up the sun and dance with the sharks but will most likely not write one sinister riff there. And we need a few of these as we are heading into the studio end of this year. Both shows will give us a lot of inspiration though to travel further and further with every touring cycle. We love exploring new places. Mainland India will come up next…soon! But for today it’s the G! Festival Faroe Islands and the coming weekend it is the Rockstorm Festival Maldives! Extreme Exotic Metal Apocalypse!”

Look out for ARCH ENEMY to appear on the selected European festivals as well as in UK clubs later this year as part of the “Metal Hammer Meltdown” tour:

‘Tyrants Of Evil’ AsiaTour report pt.3 – Manila’s Giant Bat!

November 19th, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

20-October-2009 @
World Trade Center - Manila  (Philippines)

Great,

the typhoon has parked his violent core far off the coast above the ocean..

Which means our flights are on and nobody is in danger coming to the show. Our first gig in Manila is going to happen!

And it comes with a giant bat and pyros (probably no license, haha..) Our promoters from Pulp magazine are taking very good care of us. Nice hotel, way too much food and lot of excitement about the show tomorrow. We are the first European metal band to stir up some live madness over here. Damn. Its about time!

Michael and Daniel doing a signing for Dean Guitars / Pearl Drums before the show. Next day will be a very early flight and a show in Hong Kong. So I sleep most of the day.. Kinda refilling my batteries for the next 36 hours of sleep depravity to come.

I am totally awake and ready to do this show. I wanna see the giant bat in action.. It blows a lot of smoke during ‘My Apocalypse’.. Funny shit!

The giant bat, spitting smoke:

Tyrants Of Evil Asia – Tour report pt.2 – Taipei, Taiwan!

November 16th, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

18-October-2009 @
Liberty Square – Taipei (Taiwan)

You don’t wanna know how it feels to get up at 4.30 am in Tokyo, board a plane at 8am and then play a show at 8pm in another country – Taiwan. It really screws with your head and makes you feel like day dreaming and moon walking.

I can’t remember much from the day. Land at noon in Taipei, get in a van. Drive to the hotel. Smells different here. Fish. Weird plants. Car exhaust. Check into room. Shower. Drop into bed, sleep 2 hours. Alarm rings. Get up again, shower again. Very tired. Drive to venue, warm up voice. Get up on stage. Different setlist tonight!

BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS

RAVENOUS

TAKING BACK MY SOUL

THE IMMORTAL

DEAD EYES SEE NO FUTURE

MY APOCALYPSE

DIVA SATANICA

REVOLUTION BEGINS

DRUM SOLO

I WILL LIVE AGAIN

BURY ME AN ANGEL

PILGRIM

CHRIS GUITAR SOLO

MICHAEL GUITAR SOLO

DEAD BURY THEIR DEAD

WE WILL RISE

SNOWBOUND

NEMESIS

FIELDS OF DESOLATION OUTRO

Yeah.. I actually recognize some faces in the crowd. It is our 2nd time here in Taipei. They finally wake me up with their enthusiasm. Very cool show. I feel good and alive again by the time we rip into Ravenous, haha. Hails and horns!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Great footage on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6CvXrHyCwo

Music got some serious power. I like it. Angela is back! Taipei rocks, we rock. Fun show. Chris is the man!

Afterwards, we have a meet’n'greet with a 100 fans. Thats a lot of people to say ‘hello’ to.. Sorry, if i dont remember your name next time. My brain feels like a raspberry muffin. Sweet and dewy. Haha.

mmmmmmmm.. muffin.

After signing different body parts and taking lots of pictures we say ‘bye-bye’ to everybody and follow the call of the pillow: ‘Lay your heavy head down here’. Oh yes. totally. Tomorrow we are flying out to Manila. If the typhoon has mercy and doesnt move any closer.

I am dreaming of storms and plane crashes. Great.

All about crazy Manila in the next report (of course we went there. We ain’t pussies).

‘Tyrants Of Evil’ Asia Tour 2009 – Tour report pt.1

November 14th, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

This was – hands down – the toughest tour we have done so far. So many flights, countries, new places, old friends and very early wake up calls.. I didn’t think it would go so smoothly and we would actually make our 42 hour flight from New Zealand via San Francisco and Frankfurt back home to Copenhagen airport. But we did! And here I am, trying to remember the crazy ride we have been on for a whole month!

17-October-2009@ Loud Park ‘09 Makuhari Messe 9-11 – Tokyo (Japan)

Our 3rd time we are playing this massive festival! Sharing the stage with Judas Priest and Megadeth this time around makes it even better! We go on right before Megadeth – with a very different setlist than usual:

BURY ME AN ANGEL
REVOLUTION BEGINS
THE IMMORTAL
RAVENOUS
BEAST OF MAN
PILGRIM
THE LAST ENEMY
I WILL LIVE AGAIN
DEMONIC SCIENCE
BRIDGE OF DESTINY
NEMESIS
+ BRIDGE OUTRO

We actually played ‘Demonic Science’ for the very first time live and only at Loudpark, hehe. And for the record: Megadeth killed!

Nice to meet Shawn Drover from Megadeth, lots of cool fans at the meet’n’greet,Tetsu and Aya from our label Trooper Entertainment, the lovely Creative Man crew, our friends.. Japan is our 2nd home. Has been for a while. If I could just afford an apartment in Tokyo, haha.. Well, we will just keep coming back ‘til the end of our days! A million thanx to our fans for the raging show!

Check out this cool live clip I found:

And of course, tons of pictures:

Arch Enemy ‘hit the lights’:

This is a beautiful guitar – The Tyrant!

Chris rocking the crowd!

The setlist in action!

Angela shouting at people, as usual..

The mighty D!

Angela on fire.

And here she is being nice for about 3 seconds. Then the next song starts, hehe.

Love this drummer and his drum kit!

Oh yeah. Drums and guitars. Sexy.

Tetsu from Trooper Entertainment rocks!

The D’s 666bpm drumkit!

Tokyo by sunrise! Very early wake up call at 4.30am to catch our flight at 8am. Tough shit.

Fuji mountain – This is Japan – from the view out of the plane. Bye, bye our love.

Next tour report will cover:

18-October-2009
@ Liberty Square – Taipei (Taiwan)

20-October-2009
@ World Trade Center- Manila (Philippines)

21-October-2009
@Hitec Auditorium- Kowloon (Hong Kong)

23-October-2009
@ The Star Live House – Beijing (China)

25-October-2009
@SEOUL AX- Seoul (Republic Of Korea)

28-October-2009

See you later – we are fighting a jet-lag from hell!

Thank you for the wonderful b-day greetings!

November 08th, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

The b-day guestbook is absolutely lovely and much fun to read! I had a killer b-day bash at the Melbourne show.. live on stage, haha.. I am not sentimental about my own b-day to be honest.. and I never tell anybody in the band or crew about it.. But the fans always rrrrrrremember anyway. And its always a nice surprise and does warm my cold heavy metal heart .. i have to admit it ;-)

Melbourne is singing happy b-day for me – experimental jazz chaos fusion style, haha.. Loved it!

Bloodstock Festival UK 2009 – recap!

September 12th, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

Yo,

for a very sophisticated and detailed review pls go here:
http://forthedisenchanted.blogspot.com/

I couldnt be any more proud to play in this grandiose band, haha..  ;-)
Yeah, we had a blast at Bloodstock and played a fantastic co-headline set that night (Carcass were nothing short of ‘totally crushing’ as well!!!). On the back of this very positive experience we are currently booking a headline tour through the UK for spring 2010. So keep your eyes peeled, my beloved Brits! We are coming back for more tea’n'biscuits and some good, old-fashioned english madness.

Here is some real fun footage

And some epic live pictures:

As Michael was pulling a double shift with Arch Enemy & Carcass he was naturally the most requested interview partner that day too.. Here some proof of his tough working day:

 :

Like I said, we will be coming ’round for more shows in 2010 – so stay pure fucking metal until then Great Britain!
