Oh yeah,
South East Asia is an adventure. For example: Finding food for Vegetarians who do not like fish-based sauces. Whale meat anybody?? And they love to label their foods with funny words. Engrish from hell. Here are our impressions from Kowloon, Beijing, Seoul and Jakarta:
21-October-2009 @ Hitec Auditorium -
Kowloon (Hong Kong)
Bleak and grey from the outside: Kowloon. Concrete jungle.
But – we managed to make it all cozy inside the venue. Rainbow colors over heavy shredding.
Beautiful!
Diva Satanica
with Michael’s improv solo!
23-October-2009 @ The Star Live House – Beijing
(China)
For some reason I cant find any live pictures from our show in Bejing.. and no footage either. I swear, we did play.. but most of the time we spent on looking for food.. or rather, at the food labels. Fun stuff! (Latest note: check our gallery for live photos!)
Whale meat. Poor buggers!!!
Ho’s on toast. Delicious. Havent tried it yet?
Our FOH Clem likes his Mother’s Finger with eh.. chocolate.
Note: the ‘School Zone’ sticker at bottom left. WTF?
Backline wizzard Eddie enjoys Pupu ice cream. It is brown, of course. David already had a bite.. not good.
25-October-2009 @ SEOUL AX – Seoul
(Republic Of Korea)
We are filming this show tonight.. For a future DVD
So naturally we are blessed with high quality gear today.. We are excited!
Eddie loves the Marshall stack. Who wouldnt? Some classic shizznizz.
Our monitor/drum tech David finally gets a
NICE desk to work with:
And here we go: Taking Back My Seoul
Great show, great crowd, great sound – Will be exciting to sift through that material some time next year
28-October-2009
@ Senayan Tennis Indoor Stadium- Jakarta (Indonesia)
First time in Jakarta. We drive by slums. Extreme poverty. We keep on driving for an hour.. The hotel is facing the Ritz Carlton, which suffered a terrorist bomb attack back in July. Food for thought.. I dream of bomb attacks of course.
Next day: Show day. A 5 min drive takes us over an hour. Traffic is baaaaaaad in Jakarta. We walk straight into a press conference, then on stage.
Jakarta is checking us out. Less crazy action in the crowd, more undivided attention. Its cool to play in new places.
South East Asia is def a new territory for most metal bands. Its a roller coaster ride, full of good and bad surprises. We had an excellent run and we will add some more exotic countries next time we come around. For now, we are all looking forward to Australia.. We got some favorite restaurants and bars there. It will be our 4th time we tour this continent.. And Kiwi-land for the first time!
Long flight ahead via Singapore to Brisbane tomorrow! Crawling into bed. Beaten, but happy!
